1. How did you come up with the name Scorkle?

Back in about 2004, we found it in the cards in the Absolute Balderdash game.


2. What does the word Scorkle mean?

vt. In Absolute Balderdash, the meaning given to the word is “To cause a slight burn, as in ironing clothes. To scorch a shirt”.

 
After many hours spent looking, we finally discovered its not in the current dictionaries, and was in use in England some time during the 12th to 15th centuries. So it’s pretty out of date, but apparently Chaucer used it so we’re in good company. It does mean to scorch, singe, burn up or consume with fire.
